The Helicopter Company Marks Fourth Year Supporting Hajj with Advanced Air Ambulance Operations

Riyadh, 15 June 2025 – The Helicopter Company (THC), a fully owned subsidiary of the Public Investment Fund (PIF) and the Kingdom’s premier commercial helicopter operator, marked its fourth consecutive year supporting Hajj season as the operating arm of the Red Crescent Authority's air ambulance program. As part of its continuous efforts to serve the guests of the holy mosque, THC played a pivotal role in delivering rapid, life-saving air ambulance services throughout 2025 Hajj season.

During this year’s operations, THC achieved a response time of just 7 to 9 minutes despite Makkah’s complex terrain, successfully handling approximately 62 emergency cases. The company deployed a fleet of four AW139 helicopters, including three active units and one standby, supported by a highly trained team of 15 pilots, 15 paramedics, and 15 specialized technicians. For the first time, THC introduced groundbreaking technologies including automated cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) devices, smart night-vision for nighttime rescues, and 90-meter aerial hoists capable of lifting up to 200 kilograms, enabling safe evacuation from difficult-to-access locations.

THC also expanded the capacity of its aircraft to accommodate two to three patients per flight, up from a single patient in previous years. A total of 37 certified helipads were established across Makkah, supplemented by temporary landing zones and direct-response sites to ensure efficient access in critical scenarios.

As the operator of Saudi Arabia’s national air ambulance program, THC continues to integrate advanced aviation and medical technologies in alignment with Vision 2030, setting new standards for emergency response. Through its sustained presence during Hajj and other national events, THC reinforces its role as a trusted partner in the Kingdom’s healthcare and mobility ecosystem, supporting lives, enabling access, and strengthening Saudi Arabia’s position as a leader in innovative, mission-critical aviation services.
